Nostradumbass: The Pick and Scroll's 2010-11 Season Predictions

The 2010-11 NBA season is set to start tomorrow, and I for one can't wait.  We've waited long enough, but there is one thing we have to do before the season starts: Season Predictions!  Devin (predictions in blue) and I (predictions in red) have put together our predictions for the upcoming season on several topics, and we're laying it all out there.

Feel free to let us know what you think of our predictions in the comments below, or to make your own predictions.  Enjoy this season everyone, especially considering we might not have one next year.

MVP:
  • LeBron James - History always looks fondly upon a winner, and 69+ wins from now as a top dog LeBron will look pretty darn good.
  • Dwight Howard - He's worked on his offense, and he's got a chip on his shoulder from all the Miami Heat talk.
Coach of the Year:
  • Nate McMillan - Should've gotten it last year with how well he handled that roster.  If he can do it again it'll be tough to argue against him.
  • Scott Brooks
Rookie of the Year:
  • John Wall
  • Blake Griffin - I think he's a beast and could be among the league leaders in rebounding from the get-go.
6th Man of the Year:
  • James Harden
  • Jamal Crawford - Dude is looking for a new contract.  If that's not motivation I don't know what is.  I smell a repeat.
Most Improved:
  • Michael Beasley - Because NO ONE is taking shots from him in that offense. I would not be surprised to see a rejuvenated Beas score upwards of 20-25 per game this year.
  • D.J. Augustin - With Felton gone, he'll see a big uptick in minutes and could provide a solid offensive punch to a team desperate for scoring.
Defensive Player of the Year:
  • Dwight Howard
  • Dwight Howard - There just isn't anyone as dominant defensively as Howard, and its unlikely to change soon.
Executive of the Year:
  • Pat Riley. I mean, is there any question?
  • Pat Riley for the biggest FA haul in history. No contest.

All-Star Winner:

  • East - 3/5 of the Eastern Starters are gonna be Miami's Big Three in all likelihood
All-Star MVP:
  • Dwyane Wade
  • LeBron James
Rookie-Sophomore MVP:
  • Tyreke Evans
  • Blake Griffin - All-Star Weekend was made for guys like Griffin.
Rookie-Sophomore Winner:
  • Sophomores
  • Rookies - Just like last year, this could end up being one of the more entertaining All-Star weekend festivities.  I'd give it to the Sophomores if Tyreke played, but I think he'll be in the Big Boy's game on Sunday instead.  Their will likely be several John Wall to Blake Griffin alley-oops however.
3 point shootout winner:
  • Anthony Morrow - His stroke is just so pretty.
  • Anthony Morrow - It was a travesty he wasn't in the contest last year.  He should probably be in it every year he's in the league.
Dunk Contest Winner:
  • Dwight Howard
  • DeMar Derozan - Hopefully the contest isn't as horrible as last years.
Eastern Champions:
  • Miami Heat
  • Orlando Magic - Orlando's size and depth proves too much for Miami.
Western Champions:
  • Los Angeles Lakers
  • Los Angeles Lakers - Nobody in the West can really stand up to them yet.

Biggest name traded by deadline:
  • Carmelo Anthony - I expect him gone at the midnight hour.
  • Carmelo Anthony - I expect him gone sooner rather than later.  If he's not traded, I'll be shocked.

  1. Oh nevermind.

I missed the red-yellow thing. Thought that was first and second. I should probably read before opening my big mouth...

    You're still picking Howard.

  2. Division leaders can be seeded no lower than 4th, meaning Milwaukee or Chicago has to be #4 in the playoff picks.
