2010-11 Season Previews: Miami Heat

"Tell you what Juwan, come back in 15 years and we'll see if we can sign you then"
The NBA Season is fast upon us, so its time for the Pick and Scroll to begin previewing each team.  We're going to go in order from worst previous record to best.  We're now on Miami, who if you haven't heard, managed an epic free agent haul, highlighted by Juwan Howard and Eddie House, along with a couple other guys too.

2009-10 Record: 47-35
Additions: LeBron James (FA), Chris Bosh (FA), Mike Miller (FA), Zydrunas Ilgauskas (FA), Eddie House (FA), Juwan Howard (FA), and whoever makes the team between Dexter Pittman (Draft) and Da'Sean Butler (Draft).
Subtractions: Jermaine O'Neal, Quentin Richardson, Michael Beasley, Dorell Wright, Yakhouba Diawara, Rafer Alston, Shavlik Randolph, Kenny Hasbrouck (Both Randolph and Hasbrouck can still make the team, but I doubt they do over Pittman or Butler).

Unsung Heroes: Southeast Division

This is like a Rorschach Test. What do you see?

Players are often described as being "overrated" or "underrated".  In the NBA, this often translates to overrated players being players that are good, but vastly overpaid for their abilities, or who get more media exposure than some other players, while underrated often means a player who is making a pittance for his current production (funnily enough, underrated players tend to become labeled overrated when they get new, bigger contracts).

I do think there are some underrated players though, players that aren't as widely known for their roles on their team, who don't often get mentioned for their contributions but are indeed integral parts of their team.

Over the next week or so, I'll be looking at each team to find one "underrated" player for each team in the league.  Tuesday, we looked at the Atlantic Divsion, and yesterday the Central.  After the jump, we travel to the Southeast to finish our Eastern Conference trip.

Make No Mistake, the Heat are Going to be Good.

When "The Decision" aired and LeBron announced he was going to be signing with Miami, joining Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh as perhaps the best Big 3 of all time, much was made about how they would have trouble filling the roster with smaller contracts, and that the egos would clash (If you think that, you haven't watched the Olympics and seen the chemistry between these players, especially James and Wade).

But frankly, the Heat have done a marvelous job surrounding LeBron, Wade and Bosh with very good role players this offseason.  The biggest things they needed were shooters to take advantage of Wade and James penetration, and a rim defender to stop opposing big men from dominating on that end.  Let's take a look at what they've managed to do.
